Horrible. Ghastly stop choices, and apparently it's "Clap-along-with-Bach" time. |

Sick people should stay home instead of immortalizing their uneducated coughing during the most sweet, delicate moments of that masterpiece played brilliantly by someone who really understands its power. |

When no orchestra would play the symphony, Fox made this reduction to organ alone. Then he had to relearn the toccata when he did get an orchestra. Marvelous; truly marvelous! |

It is a pity that such a grand performance drowns the congregation's singing. The balance is redressed, and the playing rather less laboured, in Frederick Swann's magnificent tribute at the Virgil Fox Memorial Concert (Disc II)

Well many of us know that Virgil Fox was severely ill when he played this concert, so his "Laboured" playing is understood and justified. I find this recording and all of his modulations simply incredible!!!

He really got that audience on their feet and singing. How wonderful that this was documented! |
