Personally, I am very VERY pleased that this horrible showmanship "clap-along-with-Bach" style of playing has practically vanished. Awful stuff, devoid of everything except dexterity - including, alas, musicianship.

Organists criticise Fox for his unconventional interpretations but the fact remains that, unusually for a performer (as distinct from a composer), Virgil Fox memorial recitals and concerts continued to be staged more than a quarter-century after his death. His impact is unassailable.
