It's disgraceful that 5 years after the refurbishment of the RFH, most of this superb instrument is still in storage at H & H with no firm plans from the hall's new owners for completing its re-installation. A travesty perpetuated by philistines.

I totally agree!

It was re-inaugurated on its 60th anniversary in March 2014, with the 1954 specification unchanged. Better (very) late than never, I guess...

He certainly plays the toccata at a rate... Unfortunately the audio stream died before I could hear the rest.

Recording is too scratchy for broadcast purposes.....

By: Filea on Jan, 29 2012

Yes indeed too scratchy, but wonderful execution however. Worth it ! Thanks for playing it even if of bad quality.

Germani pedal technique intensivelly used heel and prefers strict legato. Modern interpretation of Bach , contary to Germani and Dupre, rather is based on the toes only and non-legato articulation ( " ordinary touch" )...

Really nice to hear such a different style of playing, and I don't care much about the quality of the recording. Of course it would be good to have a pristine copy - but at least we have the music right now. That's good.

Excellent tempo and technique. He definitely gives the individual voices vitality and liveliness.

Not enough respiration, but it was in 1960.
