This never should have been released to the public. There are ways to place microphones to minimize audience noise, but evidently the "engineer" did not use them.Add your comment here...

No paper programs and pass out the cough drops before the concert begins!

By: MusicDonor2014 on Sep, 17 2015

Persons who come with coughs when they know (or find out a recording is being made) should either LEAVE or SIT in a CRY ROOM or as far from microphones as possible. This is unbelievable !!!

By: MusicDonor2014 on Sep, 17 2015

To: stlorganist: you just about HAVE to pass out paper programs, or have the selections on a screen . . . with perhaps scenic photographs that illustrate the mood of the music

By: Tromba on Oct, 20 2015

Some music scores do NOT translate well. This is one of them. Boring and not worthy of a concert, this organ, nor the performer.

By: apservice on Oct, 10 2016

Absolutely boring. Without any "input". Not worth a hearing and publishing in OrganLive

What's up with the reed solo stop in the pedal throughout most of the fugue? Don't like it!

Truly sad that audiences have no respect for live performances and recordings anymore...

By: MikeDC on Jan, 21 2013

Didn't seem like this piece is well-suited to the instrument or room--at least not if you've heard Doug Majors recording at Washington National Cathedral. But well-performed nonetheless.

By: AlanOrgan on Jul, 16 2013

I was going to say unbelievable the noise of the audience, but sadly it sounds like my church on a Sunday morning... too sad! But then why release such a poor quality recording?

By: MusicDonor2014 on Aug, 07 2015

My rating is of Ms. Sparks' performance, which I feel is excellent. The audience sounds are inexcusable on their parts. Amazing to see so many ranks on a three-manual organ. That's a new one from my perspective. Too bad she doesn't have the flexibility of at least four manuals. Maybe when she has worked there 50 yrs they will honor her with a new console.

Awfull music!

By: stlorganist on Jul, 03 2012

hard onthe ears... and we wonder why the art of pipe organ building and playing is a dying profession... this is a prime example... my congregation would have a fit if I were to present something like this even in a concert setting.

Are not afraid of words: it is brilliant!

By: TrichterRegal on Apr, 16 2015

@ cavalorg: This is not grade school name calling... these are adult opinions. I happen to agree with the top 3. These sounds are horrid, and should be reserved for a soiree of like minded individuals and studied in organ studios. Not for curious listeners that are interested in pipe organ music. Quite the turn off!
