Tedious and pretentious.

Pretentious? Seems to me a trumpet solo is the perfect instrument to express the text of the hymn (e.g., "endless is the victory thou o'er death hast won."). Perhaps a piccolo or bassoon solo would be less pretentious? LOL |

Insistent and uncomfortable stabbing chords.

Bender often took this approach for emphasis. He told me, if you do something once, do it again (in the same piece) for consistency. |

This is so good: such a catchy little thing and beautifully played. Puts a grin on my face immediately! |
