One of the finest choirs in the world. Willcocks is a legend in the realm of choral conducting and arranging.

This just stops me dead in my tracks. There is something profoundly moving in the cadence and phrasing that really hits a deep spot. Beautiful almost beyond words.

Si la perfection existe, on en n'est pas loin!
By: Julienmason on May, 24 2015
This is the traditional psalm for Good Friday, superbly cadenced in the Anglican Chant discipline. |

The choir sounds thin against the organ and additional instrumental backing. This psalm, which after all begins "ALL people", demands - particularly with this setting - a large choir, or a congregation. Oh dear! never thought I would criticise Kings.

Ragbin: Sometimes it's just a matter of microphone placement.

I don't know about the original source, but the Organlive broadcast almost certainly has dynamic range compression applied. The verse with just choir and descant trumpet is almost the same absolute volume as the first or final verses with organ, instruments & choir in full voice. |
