I'm not sure what the original thinking was behind this production, because it comes across as patronising and simplistic.
By: Buster Highman on Sep, 19 2012
I heard this program in person, and it was trippy -- and not in the good way. It's a silly concept, and I'd be happy if I never had to hear it again. The music and its execution is fine....but the story.....oh, the story.

The spoken introductions are annoying. Why does a CD rated 1 1/2 stars even get airplay?
By: MusicDonor2014 on Oct, 20 2015
Buster - surprised the full name you've given was allowed on this station !! Rude and vulgar !!
By: TrichterRegal on Feb, 29 2016
If this CD is NOT the number one "most hated" CD on OrganLive, it surly is in the top 10! The spoken introductions destroy the music. Perhaps you could edit out the spoken intros? If not... consider getting rid of this CD all together. |

If this CD is NOT the number one "most hated" CD on OrganLive, it surly is in the top 10! The spoken introductions destroy ANY forced sincerity if "might" have! Get rid of it! |

REALLY!?

What a horrible, horrible, unsettling script! What is the point of this CD? I still believe it is in the top 10 of worst organ CD's ever recorded! |

The speech is patronising and makes my toes curl, plus the organ piece is not titled "Pièce d'Orgue". It's by Bach, who was German. Why do people feel the need for this silliness?
By: jfk1961 on Apr, 25 2012
Here's the story... one star. End of story.

'Tis the title Bach gave the work.

I can personally drive to St. Louis, and you can throw this CD in the street, and I will run it over repeatedly till it's DEAD!
By: Brian on Jun, 06 2019
TrichterRegal, that made me laugh out loud and spray coffee on my keyboard. This abomination is so awful I'd pay for you to run over it - and I'll chuck in a cutting laser too! |

Maybe the name of the new OrganLive station should be, "Any Album in the OrganLive Library EXCEPT 'Stories From The Human Village: War and Peace!'"

Never heard such a bad interpretation with a so bad choices of stops. Horrible....... Please cancel!
By: stlorganist on Apr, 29 2014
IMHO must agree with Filea a beginning organist could have chosen better registration!
By: gemshorn on Nov, 10 2014
Horrible choice, yes, but no much other choice avail. The organ is not the right one for this Carillon, or the Carillon is not the riight work for this organ!
By: mrorgan on Jun, 19 2017
oh and those tacky bells (zimbelstern?) at the end of the pieces.... no no no!
By: TrichterRegal on Jul, 18 2017
But it's from "Stories From The Human Village: War and Peace!" The MOST despised AND repugnant CD in the OrganLive library! You mean the music is bad too! My Goodness! How Shocking!!! |
