The right stop for the right effect ! C-C was a master... Notice 64 stops, but 82 ranks.

It's a darn good recording, too. Not too much reverberation like some from St.Ouen. |

I am very surprised: Flûte 4 and Bourdon 8 are not rather beautiful on this organ?

Nobody builds/built 32' Bombardes like Cavaille-Coll! |

I have played this organ. Thrill of a lifetime. Cavaille-Coll's last great masterpiece, and a particular favorite of Marcel Dupre. |

Just simply flat-out gorgeous. Written for 19C French organ and this Cavaille-Coll organ in Rouen, in the hands of Joe Nolan makes the point. And the acoustics suit the piece very well.

Well said in total - dysprosium!! I totally agree with you. I only wish there were CHAMADES available on this instrument for the parts so designated for them in the score.

Oh what glory! What a wonderful way to start my morning! I'm going to have to get this recording!

To my ears, this is the finest rendition of Mr. Guilmant's 1st Sonata on OrganLive. It's always thriling to hear what Mr. Noland is able to do with this composition on this particular organ. Five stars from me!

And five stars from me, as well. My God, glory be to YOU Divine Creator - for allowing human beings to compose such music, create such massive instruments and other musicians the gifts, skills and will to master performing such musical works. Did I leave anyone out? |
