Richard Elliott has played flawlessly in this terrific album. I really have enjoyed "As the Dew from Heaven Histilling"

Schreiner would play this at the end of every Sunday morning program from the Morman Tabernacle. Us geezers remember!

Schreiner's arrangements are distinctive and hauntingly beautiful...

Ouch! Richard Elliott ought to take some riding courses... His Valkyries had too much sandwich and soda, and switched from horses to old fat ponies!

The performance by Justin Hartz @ Longwood Gardens ( on the 2nd best website for organ music, but best for videos) is still my favorite, but this comes close.

Beautifully played and registered!

Not surprising, Rick Elliott, made great use of the Tabernacle AEolian-Skinner Organ in registering and performing this mystic work from our friend, Karg-Elert. Great job!

A transfixing reverie. It haunts my ears a day later. Rarely have I been so transported by a piece of music.

By: enchamade on May, 09 2012

Thank you,Lois. If I may add:The Prière, the fifth of a set of six organ pieces published by Franck in 1862, is, perhaps, the most elusive of them all. It opens with a long, sustained phrase of five-part writing in C-sharp minor. The pedals introduce a new motif, imitated by the manuals, which is expanded and proves fruitful in development. A new, singing phrase, heard against a triplet accompaniment, is shared between the outer voices, and the section closes on a diminished seventh chord. The initial, prayer-like theme now returns as a declamation, and a passage in octaves introduces its enriched recapitulation. From this point the music soars ecstatically to a climax in the major mode, but then subsides into sober recitative, and the prayer ends in submission.

I find that this was a great addition to the album. After the many years of usage on "Music and the Spoken Word", to have it performed with out the voice over from the annoucers in its entirety is amazing, because on TV you only get to here part of it.
