I love this piece, and usually love everything that Peter does, but this was too slow, too metronomic, and completely passionless. Try the Michael Murray recording.

try the Vergil Fox recording.

The mellow sound of this instrument towards the deeply moving last part of this movement is to be savoured.

A truly amazing piece and performance!

After more than 80 years, Joseph Jongen's Symphonie Concertante for Organ and Orchestra was finally presented in a live concert for the first time with the organ and orchestra for which it had been written. Thankfully, it was recorded live September 27, 2008.

Enchamade: Amen! Time was when no orchestra wanted to perform it. Virgil Fox, probably frustrated, went so far as to arrange the wholle thing for organ alone.

The organ and acoustics sound ideal - a fine if belated redress for an amazing omission.
